United States. Cong. House. A
Bill for an Act Concerning a Prohibition on Abortion. 69th
Cong., 1st Session. 13-1033. GPO, 2013. Web. 12 Mar. 2013.
This bill presented to Congress proposes a prohibition of
abortion and makes any violation a class 3 felony. The two exceptions to the
law are: a licensed physician performs a medical procedure designed to prevent
the death of a mother and makes reasonable medical efforts to preserve the life
of both the mother and the life of the unborn child; and a licensed physician
provides medical treatment to the mother that results in the accidental or
unintentional injury or death to the unborn child.

Journal of Public Health 103.4 (2013): 1197. Web. 12 Mar. 2013.
Louise Finer outlines the global trend toward the
liberalization of abortion laws driven by women’s rights, public health, and
human rights advocates. With this trend, the author continues to illuminate
legal strategies to hinder access to legal abortion and argues as to why these
barriers are detrimental to women’s rights and health.
